MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. – Coastal Georgia volleyball's season came to an end on Friday with a 3-0 (25-14, 25-19, 25-17) loss to top-seeded St. Thomas in the Sun Conference semifinals.
With Coastal Georgia trailing by two, a costly six-point run swung the momentum towards St. Thomas as the Bobcats went up 17-9. The Mariners were unable to string together consecutive points throughout the remainder of the set as St. Thomas cruised to the opening set victory.
The Mariners went up 16-13 in the second set on a kill from All-Conference selection Kyra White. However, St. Thomas used two late runs to outscore the Mariners 12-3 en route to taking a 2-0 lead in the match.
Early Bobcat runs made it difficult for the Mariners to bounce back in the final set. Coastal Georgia was able to come to within six on an Alexis Downey-Jessica Brown block to make it 23-17, but St. Thomas finished the match with back-to-back kills.
White led the Mariners with 12 kills, while Brown had 11 kills. Laney Green recorded 15 digs and Ashley Kot notched a 32-assist, 11-dig double-double.
Carly Durr recorded a team-high 11 kills for the Bobcats.
