Dalton, Ga. – The College of Coastal Georgia women's tennis team picked up a trio of 5-0 victories here Friday in Southern States Athletic Conference action.
The Mariners blanked both Blue Mountain and Bethel and also Dalton State at their second SSAC Roundup of the season.
With the wins, the Mariners improved to 5-6 overall and are now 3-2 in league matches. They are scheduled to finish play in Dalton on Saturday morning with a match against Martin Methodist.
Against Blue Mountain, the Mariners picked up three points by default and led 3-0 when they took the court.
Coastal Georgia then won two doubles matches for the win as Samantha Sepe and Daniella Caruso teamed up for an 8-0 win at No. 1 while Madeline Garner and Paige DeLaPerriere prevailed 8-2 at No. 2 to give the Mariners the five points needed for the team triumph.
Against Blue Mountain, the Marines did the same exact thing after having three wins by default. Sepe and Caruso again combined for a victory at No. 1 doubles, defeating their counterparts from the Toppers 8-2. Also, Samantha Lasslett and Lindsey Lawing teamed up for an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles to give the Mariners the five team points for the win.
The Mariners also faced Dalton State Friday and took the court with a 2-0 lead with a pair of forfeit wins as the Roadrunners had just five players.
In doubles, Sepe and Caruso won 8-0 at the top spot while Lasslett and Lawing won 8-4 in the second doubles spot.
In the only singles match played, Coastal Georgia's Caruso cruised to a 6-0, 6-0 victory at the No. 1 spot to finish out the easy win for the Mariners.
