They recorded 12 kills and no errors to the Mariner's eight kills and 10 errors. Webber International took the set 25-12.
SET 2: The second set was much closer as neither team had more than a two-point lead until the Warriors went on a 6-2 run at the 19-16 mark to take the set. The Mariners were able to cool off the Warrior's offensive attack as their hitting dipped to .257 percent.
SET 3: The Mariners got off to a 6-1 run which involved Keener and Chantiya Johnson's kills on big swings to capitalize on the Warrior's overhits. The Mariners did not look back and kept their foot on the gas in the third set. They gave Webber a taste of its own medicine holding them to a -.067 hitting percentage and just seven kills. Coastal Georgia took the set 25-15.
SET 4: Neither team wanted to give up an inch in the fourth set. Webber jumped out to an early 6-4 lead but that quickly turned into a 10-10 tie that was broken by a timely Saunders kill. The match stayed close until the end when the Mariners were able to go on a 6-1 run after a 19-19 tie. Perez Rosales ended the set with a powerful kill to add to the Mariner's momentum heading into the deciding set.
SET 5: With the final set tied 6-6 coach Val Every called a time-out to regroup. It could not have come at a better time as the Mariners came out of that huddle ready to finish off the comeback, ending the game on a 9-4 run.
The Coffin Gym was electric the entire night as the fans stepped up to help create a true homecourt advantage.
Head Coach Val Every:
"I am incredibly proud of getting our first conference win tonight, especially with this being just the second conference game we have played at home. It's nice to be in our gym. I want to give a big shoutout to the fans tonight, especially the softball team, who definitely helped us keep our energy and momentum together, I can't thank the fans enough. Mostly, I am super proud of our team. We are down a significant amount of players right now and for us to band together after two tough sets it was awesome to see our team pull together and fight through adversity."
