Mariners Host Homecoming Match on Saturday

BRUNSWICK, Ga.- The Coastal Georgia volleyball team (6-10, 2-6) is prepared to host Ave Maria University on Saturday, Oct. 14 at 2 p.m. as the College celebrates Homecoming.

The Mariners have dropped their last three games and will look to get in the win column and even the season series with the Gyrenes.

The Gyrenes (9-10, 4-4) are coming off a 3-2 win over Warner on Wednesday and will be looking to get above .500 in SUN play with a win against Coastal.

HISTORY-

Ave Maria swept the Mariners last time out but the first two sets were close with the Gyrenes winning 26-24 and 25-22. Coastal is on a nine-game losing streak against Ave Maria and will be looking to get that blemish off its record.

BY THE NUMBERS-

Chantiya Johnson is tied for the Sun Conference lead in blocks per set (0.98) and has helped the Mariners stay in a lot of games with her effort at the net. Johnson is coming off a career-high nine blocks in the Mariners Wednesday night match against Southeastern, and will look to build on that.
Raevyn Russell ranks in the top 10 for points per set (3.30) and kills per set (2.96) in the SUN.
Cassidy Casey is hitting .276 percent this year which is good for fifth best in the conference.
Setters Sara Hansen and Rebecca Brown both have over 200 assists on the season.
Five different Mariners have 85 or more digs so far this season including Julia Neveu (87), Jenna Rogers (88), Sara Hansen (92), Rebecca Brown (94) and Skylar Gribben (125).
