(RV) Mariners to Host No. 12 Ave Maria in Sun Conference Match

BRUNSWICK, Ga.- The (RV) Coastal Georgia women's tennis team (5-1, 0-1) will host No. 12 Ave Maria (3-5, 0-0) on Friday, Mar. 24 at 11 a.m. at the Marta B. Torrey Tennis Complex on the campus of Coastal Georgia.

The Mariners are off to the best start in program history in terms of record. After dropping their first match of the season to No. 3 SCAD-Savannah, the Mariners have rattled off five-straight wins, something they have not done since the 2014 season.

Returners Ana Gonzalez and Azul Malatini have been excellent in their respective singles lines with Gonzalez going 5-1 and Malatini at a perfect 6-0.

Freshmen Paula Cigarran and Danielle Silvan have been solid as well. Cigarran sits at 5-1 on the season while Silvan is 4-1.

Newcomers Lisa McKenzie and Chloe Do Lago have held the line up together with records over .500 at their respective courts.

The Gyrenes have played some stout competition leading up to their first Sun Conference match. They faced No. 5 Xavier, No. 10 William Carey and No. 4 LSU-Alexandria, taking the match against William Carey 4-1 while losing the other two by a combined score of 5-8.
