Box Score BRUNSWICK, Ga. – The College of Coastal Georgia women's tennis team ran into one of the hottest teams in the country, losing their match with #10 SCAD by a final of 4-0.
"Tough match for the girls today against a top 10 SCAD team. We fought hard at doubles and dropped lines 2 and 3 by a single break," said head coach

The 10
th ranked Bees (3-1) got the early hand, clinching the doubles point after their first two lines won their sets.
Laetitia Grand and
Chloe Do Lago were on the first line for the (RV) Mariners (1-2), as they dropped their set 6-4. On line two,
Azul Malatini and
Danielle Silvan dropped their set as well by a final of 6-3. The third line featured
Ana Gonzalez and
Lisa McKenzie who were serving down 5-3 when the doubles match was called off giving the point to the Bees.
In singles play, Gonzalez was on line one for the Mariners and was having a competitive match with Alessia Piecolioni, winning the first set 7-6 and was down 1-2 in the second set. Grand was on singles line two, losing in straight sets 6-1, 6-0. McKenzie held down line three and lost in straight sets 6-0, 6-0. On #4 singles, Do Lago started strong in the first set, but couldn't hold on, losing in straight sets 6-4, 6-0. Malatini was the lone Mariner to win a set in singles play, winning her first set 6-4 and leading 2-1 when the match was called.
Sofia Gonzalez was on the sixth and final line, as she dropped the opening set 6-1 and was down 5-1 when the match ended.
"In singles Ana and Azul were steady at lines 1 and 5 and were both up a set when SCAD clinched the match," added Rogers. "Chloe played great in her 1st set and in general the overall fight and grit the girls showed was promising. We made a big jump this week in the number of votes we received in the national poll this week and I expect to see us continue to climb during the next rating period."
The Mariners will look to regroup next week as they travel to Hilton Head S.C. to take on Marian. First serve is set for 1:30 p.m.
