LAKELAND, Fla. – Coastal Georgia put together a strong second-half surge, but an explosive offensive performance from Southeastern proved too much to overcome as the Mariners fell 107–81 on Wednesday evening.
After a difficult opening quarter in which the Mariners shot just 6% from the field, Coastal Georgia steadily settled in, scoring 23 points in both the second and third quarters before putting up a game-high 30 points in the fourth. Despite the offensive rhythm late, the Fire countered with 62.5% shooting from the floor and connected on 12 three-pointers to stay in control throughout.
Hadiya Kennerly led the Mariners with 17 points on 7-for-13 shooting, adding four rebounds and a steal. Taylor Blackshear delivered a stat-stuffing performance with 14 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and six steals, continually sparking CCGA's defensive pressure. Abby Shepard and Alli Stone each posted 13 points, with Shepard knocking down a pair of threes and going a perfect 5-for-5 at the free-throw line.
Freshman guard Niya Moon provided a major lift off the bench, scoring 14 points and drilling four three-pointers, helping fuel the Mariners' fourth-quarter push.
Coastal Georgia found its offensive footing after halftime, shooting 58% in the final period and hitting four threes, but Southeastern countered with big performances of its own. The Fire were led by Grace Field, who finished with 32 points and 11 rebounds on near-perfect shooting, and by sharp-shooting guard Alley Haas, who added 20 points on six made threes.
The Mariners totaled 22 points from the bench, forced 22 Southeastern turnovers, and shot 75% from the free-throw line, but the Fire's efficiency—particularly a dominant 85.7% third quarter—kept them in front.
Coastal Georgia moves to 4–2 on the season and 1–1 in Sun Conference play. The Mariners return to action this weekend
