THOMASVILLE, Ga. – The College of Coastal Georgia women's basketball team stormed back in the second half to earn a 67–62 road win over Thomas University on Wednesday evening inside TU Gymnasium.
After trailing 34–29 at halftime, the Mariners used a strong third quarter to regain momentum, outscoring the Nighthawks 19–14 before sealing the game with a gritty fourth period. The victory moves Coastal Georgia to 3–1 on the season.
Senior guard Taylor Blackshear led the way with a dominant performance, posting a game-high 25 points, nine rebounds, six steals, and two assists. Blackshear scored 13 of her points in the fourth quarter, knocking down all five of her free throws down the stretch to secure the win.
Niya Moon provided a huge spark off the bench, finishing with 19 points on 8-of-12 shooting, including 3-for-6 from three-point range. Alli Stone added 10 points, five rebounds, and a team-high seven assists, while Paris Miller contributed nine points and four rebounds.
Despite shooting just 26.3 percent from the field and 10.8 percent from beyond the arc, the Mariners made up for it with relentless defensive pressure. Coastal Georgia forced 29 turnovers, turning them into 36 points on the other end. The Mariners also grabbed 17 offensive rebounds, converting them into 12 second-chance points.
Thomas was led by LaTarius Montgomery, who tallied 19 points and an impressive 26 rebounds. Kennedy Collins chipped in 14 points, and Zyi'Kiera King added 12.
Coastal Georgia will return home for its next contest, looking to build on its strong start to the season.
