Mariners Dominate Thomas in Home Opener, 103–63

BRUNSWICK GA. - The College of Coastal Georgia women's basketball team continued its strong start to the 2025–26 season with a dominant 103–63 victory over Thomas University on Monday afternoon at Howard Coffin Gymnasium. The win moves the Mariners to 2–0, while the visiting Night Hawks fell to 2–3.

From the opening tip, Coastal Georgia set the tone with aggressive defense and a balanced offensive attack. The Mariners built an early 25–12 lead after the first quarter and never looked back, outscoring Thomas in every period. A 30-point third quarter pushed the lead beyond reach and allowed Coastal Georgia to cruise through the final frame.

The Mariners showcased depth and teamwork throughout the game, with ten players contributing to the scoring column. Paris Miller led the way with 21 points on 8-for-12 shooting, including three three-pointers. Niya Moon added 18 points, all from behind the arc, knocking down six triples. Alli Stone tallied 13 points and six rebounds, while Abby Shepard provided a spark off the bench with 14 points and three made threes.

Coastal Georgia's reserves were a key factor, combining for 52 points and maintaining a fast tempo even as lineups rotated. The Mariners forced 36 turnovers, turning them into 39 points on the other end. Their defensive pressure limited Thomas to 13 percent shooting from three-point range, while Coastal Georgia connected on 40.5 percent of its shots from the field and 30.4 percent from beyond the arc.

The Mariners also controlled the glass and free-throw line, collecting 34 rebounds and converting 25 of 37 attempts from the stripe. Defensively, Coastal Georgia tallied 23 steals and disrupted Thomas's offensive flow from start to finish.

Thomas was led by Tieraney Bolton, who posted 24 points and nine rebounds, while LaTarius Montgomery recorded a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Kennedy Collins also contributed 14 points for the Night Hawks.

The victory highlighted Coastal Georgia's depth, defensive intensity, and balanced scoring effort as the team remains undefeated to start the season. The Mariners will look to build on their early momentum when they return to action later this week.
